THERE IT IS: No. 10 Lady Cardinals take down No. 3 Navarro

In a five-set thriller featuring a little bit of everything, the 10th-ranked Lady Cardinals pulled off a 3-2 upset of third-ranked Navarro College in Region Conference volleyball action Wednesday night at Cardinal Gym.

The Lady Cardinals were down 2-1 after three sets. No problem. They were a 25-20 winner in the fourth and jumped out to an 8-1 lead in the fifth on their way to a match-clinching 15-10 final.

The win raised the Lady Cardinals' season record to 19-5. They are 8-3 in conference. Navarro, which had won nine straight, dropped to 24-2 and 9-1 marks.

The Lady Cardinals are schedule leave today for West Plains, Mo., where they will participate in the annual Grizzly Invitational. Friday, the Lady Cardinals are scheduled to play Jefferson at 1 p.m. and host MSU-West Plains at 5 p.m. The Lady Cardinals are set to play Iowa Western at 1 p.m. Saturday before heading home.

The Lady Cardinals' next home game is Wednesday, Oct. 11 vs. Panola at 6 p.m.

Mafer Cisneros Salas turned in a solid, steady performance for the Lady Cardinals, making highlight plays in each set. In the fourth set, after trailing 16-14, Lorelai Hill entered the contest and quickly helped produce five points to turn the tide.

Sofia Velez, Emma Bednarek, Genesis Rodriguez and Azul Pilahg were also among the top contributors in the upset.
