WELCOME TO THE VALLEY: Engelbrecht, Van Dyke join VB coaching staff

As Aleah Hayes begins her fifth season as head volleyball coach at Trinity Valley Community College, she will have two new assistants on her staff.

Hayes today announced the addition of Brittney Engelbrecht as assistant coach and Maddie Van Dyke as coaching assistant.

"I am very happy to have Brittney join our TVCC family and the volleyball coaching staff," Hayes said. "I have known Brittney for many years and value her experience, knowledge of the game and leadership."

"I am excited to have Maddie (a player for Hayes at TVCC during the 2020 and 2021 seasons) back at TVCC and on the coaching staff," Hayes said. "Her passion for volleyball and TVCC will be a great addition to this program and to the athletic department."

BRITTNEY ENGELBRECHT

Assistant Coach

A native of Jefferson City, Mo., Engelbrecht brings an award-winning and record-setting resume as a high school and collegiate player to the TVCC program.

Following a high school career that saw her three times named all-state by the Missouri High School Volleyball Coaches Association, she went on to be a four-year starter at William Woods University, where she was named an NAIA All-American.

At William Woods, she set school records for both all-time and single-game assists.

She received American Midwest All-Conference honors all four years at William Woods.

Engelbrecht also was recognized for academic honors on the high school and collegiate levels. She also received the American Midwest Conference's Champions of Character Award.

"God has a funny way of doing things," Engelbrecht said. "I didn't choose TVCC, but TVCC chose me -- one of those things that falls into your lap, and you feel there is a reason for it.

"I am beyond excited to share my passion for volleyball at the collegiate level again. This sport taught me so much both skill-wise and leadership-wise off the court. I want to do the same. I want to pass along my knowledge of the game along with the lessons I have learned."

"Brittney will bring skills to the program that will continue to elevate our discipline, experience and expectations and I look forward to having her as a colleague.

"I am excited to have her back at the college level and she is a big culture person, so I value those skills greatly. I know she will make a quick impact on the team and within our program."

Engelbrecht graduated from William Woods with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and minor in Coaching.

MADDIE VAN DYKE

Coaching Assistant

After playing two years for Hayes at TVCC, Van Dyke went on to continue her education and athletic career at the University of West Alabama.

At West Alabama, the native of Humble was a member of Omicron Delta Honors Society. She was also an NCAA Scholar Athlete and named to the Dean's List three times.

While at TVCC, she was a member of Phi Theta Kappa and was twice named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association All-Academic Team.

"TVCC is unlike any place I have ever been," Van Dyke said. "It's home.

"TVCC gave me the opportunity to both continue my education and play the sport I am passionate about. I have always had the utmost confidence in Coach Hayes and everything she has been working to build and I am excited to come back and work with her to win championships."

"I value her loyalty and trust and I know it will allow this team to continue to make history," Hayes said. "Maddie will be ready to work hard toward our team goals and I am grateful to have her with us."

Van Dyke graduated West Alabama with a bachelor's degree in Health Science Comprehension.
