DOUBLE DIP: No. 9 Lady Cardinals record key wins

As the Region XIV Conference race reaches its final week, the No. 9 Lady Cardinals are on a roll.

 

First-year coach Aleah Hayes' squad extended its winning streak to five games Saturday afternoon with a 3-0 win against No. 19 Blinn at Cardinal Gym, winning 25-21, 25-22, 25-20.

 

Saturday's win followed a 3-0 win Friday night at Cardinal Gym against Lee. The Lady Cardinals were a 25-14, 25-22, 25-20 winner.

 

With two games remaining, the Lady Cardinals, who are 21-4 overall, are 5-2 in conference play. They have secured a berth in the regional tournament Nov. 1-3 at Tyler Junior College.

 

The Lady Cardinals have two long trips to close out conference play this week. Tuesday, they go to Victoria. Friday, it's off to Wharton. Both games have 6 p.m. starts.

 

Against Blinn, Yasmim da Silva scored 22.5 points to lead the way. She also had a team-high 19 kills. Erica Airheart scored 15 points and had 13 kills.

 

Livia Kimura had 17 digs. Cauane Krainski had nine.

 

Maria Ramos was the top scorer against Lee with 13.5 points, followed by da Silva with 13 and Lauren Castles 9.5. Ramos also led the way in kills with 11.

 

Kimura and da Silva had 21 and 10 digs, respectively. Ramos finished with nine.
