The 13th-ranked Lady Cardinals began an important three-game stretch in their schedule in positive fashion Saturday afternoon, going on the road to claim a 56-54 win versus Blinn College.
The win, which avenged a 64-62 home loss to Blinn in January, raised the Lady Cardinals' season record to 16-5. They are 6-3 in Region XIV Conference. Blinn slipped to 16-7 and 6-3.
The Lady Cardinals have two big home games this week, playing Tyler at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday and Angelina at 2 p.m. Saturday. Angelina (16-7) currently leads the conference at 8-1, including an 82- 78 win against the Lady Cardinals in Lufkin last month.
April Edwards scored 18 points to lead the Lady Cardinals. Kynnedi Davis had 10.
Kierra Sanderlin and Kennedi Johnson netted seven points each.
Having trailed 16-11 after one quarter, the Lady Cardinals were up 24-22 at the half and 40-38 after three quarters.
