ANOTHER MILESTONE: Lady Cardinals post 1,300th win

Less than 24 hours after staging one of the greatest comebacks in the 49-year history of the program, the Lady Cardinals notched a milestone win Sunday afternoon at Cardinal Gym. They rolled past LSU-Eunice to the tune of 102-62 to record their 1,300th win.

Now 1,300-267 overall, the 13th-ranked Lady Cardinals are scheduled to be back in action at home Saturday against Jones County in a 2 p.m. tipoff.

While the win against LSU-Eunice was never in doubt, the same cannot be said about Saturday night's contest against 11th-ranked Three Rivers in the final game of the two-day, 10-team Budke/Serna Thanksgiving Classic. The Lady Cardinals trailed 57-39 going into the fourth quarter. By quarter's end, they had wiped out the 18-point deficit and sent the game into overtime tied at 67-67.

After being outscored 18-5 in the third quarter, the Lady Cardinals outscored the Lady Raiders 28-10 in the final 10 minutes.

Kennedi Johnson led the Lady Cardinals in the comeback win with 21 points. April Edwards had 16, Lydie Mwamba and Kynnedi Davis netted 15 each and Breanna Baxter 12.

Against LSU-Eunice, the Lady Cardinals raced out to a 28-12 lead after a quarter and never looked back.

Edwards led the rout, pouring in 34 points, including five three-pointers.

Baxter finished with 22 points and Madison Bush added 18.

The Lady Cardinals opened the Budke/Serna with a 95-86 win against Hill.

The Lady Cardinals are 7-2 on the year and have won five straight.
