TAKEDOWN: No. 11 Lady Cards KO No. 7 Tyler

Exploding for 34 points in the fourth quarter, the 11th-ranked Lady Cards scored a big-time 91-81 win Saturday afternoon against seventh-ranked Tyler at Wagstaff Gymnasium.

The Lady Cards, who improved to 20-5 on the year and 11-4 in Region XIV Conference, spent a lot of time at the free throw line in the  fourth quarter. They made the most of it, hitting 19-of-25 attempts to secure the win and halt a two-game tailspin.

Tyler saw its records slip to 22-6 and 12-4 with a second straight loss.

The Lady Cards are scheduled to be at home for a final time this season Wednesday, hosting 18th-ranked Blinn (24-3), which leads the conference with a 13-3 mark. Game time is 5:30 p.m.

Briana Peguero led the Lady Cards with 25 points. Mimi McCollister had 21, Abby Cater 19 and Kaila Kelley 13. Cater was 9-off-11 from the free throw line.

Tyler led 41-35 at the half.

The Lady Cards are still in contention to win/share their 29th conference title in the last 31 seasons.
