A program filled with milestone moments added another one Wednesday night.
The second-ranked Lady Cards pulled away in the second half to record their 1,200th win in the program's 45-year history with an 81-64 decision against Angelina College at Shands Gym in Lufkin.
Win no. 1,200 improved the Lady Cards to 22-1 overall and kept them perfect at 11-0 in Region XIV Conference. Angelina, which won the regional tournament last year, tumbled to 12-10 and 4-7.
The Lady Cards are scheduled to return to action at home Saturday against No. 24-ranked Blinn. Blinn improved to 19-4 and 8-3 Wednesday night with an 80-68 win against Kilgore. The Lady Cards were a 97-86 winner in the first meeting with Blinn in a game played at Brenham in December.
Six players scored in double figures against Angelina, led by Kaye Clark's 18. She was 8-of-13 from the floor, grabbed five rebounds and dished out five assists.
Taiyanna Jackson tossed in 15 points, hitting 7-of-8 shots, and had 13 rebounds.
Curtessia Dean, Mekayla Furman, Tiya Douglas and Lojong Gore finished with 10 each. Dean and Douglas each had a pair of three-pointers.
Angelina was up 23-19 after one quarter. The score was tied 35-35 at the half. The Lady Cards outscored the Lady Roadrunners 46-29 in the second half.
