SURGE ZONE: No. 7 Cardinals catch fire in second half

An 18-7 run in the opening four minutes of the second half fueled the seventh-ranked Cardinals to an 89-68 win against Bossier Parish Community College in Region XIV Conference action Saturday afternoon at Cardinal Gym.

The win raised the Cardinals' season record to 18-4. They are 9-2 in conference.

The Cardinals are scheduled to be on the road Wednesday, going to Paris for a 7:30 p.m. contest. They are scheduled to be at home Saturday against Panola at 4 p.m.

With 3:00 left in the first half, the score was tied 29-29. A mini surge before the halftime buzzer gave the Cardinals a 38-31.

It was at that point Ahamad Bynum caught fire from beyond the three-point arc, which created room for Mouhamadou Cisse and Mouhamed Mbaye to find room inside to operate. Bynum, who scored four points in the first half, finished with 25 points, including five three-pointers – all in the second half.

Cisse had 12 points and 12 rebounds. Mbaye scored eight and nabbed six rebounds.

Makhi Dorsey also scored in double figures with 13, as did Aliou Cisse with 10.

Bossier Parish's effort was bolstered by 13 three-pointers.
