The Cardinal football family grew by 49 Wednesday on National Signing Day.
Sherard Poteete, who will be in his seventh season as head football coach in 2024, announced the signees, noting he felt the program had gotten better with the additions.
"We were successful addressing needs and got better as a program," Poteete said. "I am very proud of the job the staff did in putting this class together.
"We have high confidence this group of young men will come in here this summer and hit the ground running and have a chance to be difference-makers."
The Cardinals loaded up on the defensive side of the ball with 13 linemen and 10 in the secondary. Offensively, nine wide receivers and six linemen were among the class.
"We went into the (recruiting) process knowing we needed to sign multiple defensive linemen, since we had so many exit the program and move on," Poteete said. "We also set out to get better and longer at the wide receiver slot."
Poteete also announced the addition of nine mid-year enrollees, including former Army quarterback Hezekiah Harris (6-2, 190) and former Malakoff standout running back Jermichael (Duce) Hart, who spent the last two seasons, including a redshirt season, at Northwestern State.
