TCB: No. 8 Cardinals take care of business against Blinn

The eighth-ranked Cardinals leaned on another solid defensive effort and a balanced offense to subdue the Blinn College Buccaneers for a 37-24 SWJCFC win Saturday night in Brenham.

The win improved the Cardinals to 4-1 on the season and 2-1 in conference. Blinn slipped to 2-4 and 0-4 records.

The Cardinals have a big showdown with Highway 31 rival Navarro in a 3 p.m. kickoff Saturday at Bruce Field. Navarro is 3-2 overall and 3-1 in conference.

The Cardinal defense limited Blinn to 322 yards, recorded nine tackles for losses, five sacks and intercepted three passes en route to the win.

Kobe Kendrick led the assault with 12 tackles. McCoy Casey had 11 and Joe Sniffin and Quardale Patt nine each. Patt also had two sacks.

Larell Howling, Taitlin Hampton and Sniffin each had an interception.

Offensively, the Cardinals amassed 464 yards on 285 passing and 179 on the ground.

Quarterback Darion Peace completed 20-of-39 passes for 285  yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Brayden Guillory caught three passes for 90 yards, two of which were touchdowns.  Mario Buffin also pulled in three for 70 yards.

The ground game was led by Quincy Thompson with 95 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries.

Hymond Drinkard, Clarence Dalton and Matthew Duncan also rushed for touchdowns.
