Eddie Kite is in his sixth year at Trinity Valley Community College and fifth as Associate Vice President of Athletics. He previously served as athletic coordinator.

During his tenure as Director of Athletics, Cardinal Athletics has seen tremendous success. The Cardinals have won regional championships in men’s basketball (twice), women’s basketball (twice), and volleyball(twice) while winning Region XIV Conference championships in football, men’s basketball, women’s basketball, volleyball, and softball.

The 2023-24 was an especially successful year for Cardinal Athletics as Cardinal football reached a season-high NJCAA ranking of  No. 3, while advancing to the SWJCFC regional semifinals, Women’s soccer made their first-ever appearance in the Region XIV Tournament, Cardinal volleyball made their first-ever appearance in the NJCAA Final Four, men’s basketball won their second consecutive Region XIV Tournament championship and advanced to the second round of the NJCAA National Tournament, women’s basketball advanced to the second round of the NJCAA National Tournament (their 17th consecutive), ESports competed in a NJCAAE national championship event, TVCC cheer won their 15th NCA National Championship), TVCC Cardettes won a DTU College Classic Championship, the TVCC cattle chow team won multiple Blue Ribbons, TVCC rodeo had multiple Cowboys win competitions, and Cardinal softball won their first-ever Region XIV Conference championship.

The Cardinal Athletic Department has also expanded during the past four years to include eSports, women’s soccer, rodeo, Cardettes, and the cattle show Team. TVCC cheer has also expanded to almost 100 Athletes to participate in Large Co-Ed, Small Co-Ed, and the newly formed NJCAA Competitive Cheer program.

Including Athletic Training, Cardinal Athletics now has 14 programs recruiting students and helping them advance to four-year institutions.

Cardinal student-athletes have also proven to be just as successful in the classroom as they are in competition. The 2023-24 semester saw the Cardinal softball program repeat as the highest GPA program in the country. Almost 100 Cardinal athletes walked at graduation in the spring of 2024.

Kite came to TVCC in the summer of 2019 after a successful five-year stint at Panola College as head women’s basketball coach. Prior to that, he served 11 years as head women’s basketball coach at Connors State College in Warner, Okla.

In five seasons at Panola, amassed 84 wins. In 2018, he led the Fillies to a 25-7 record and an at-large berth in the NJCAA national tournament. It was the school’s first appearance at the event since 2005. The 2017-18 Fillies won their first Region XIV Conference championship in 41 years. Kite was recognized as Region XIV Women’s Basketball Coach of the Year and was also honored with the TABC Junior College Women’s Basketball Coach of the Year.

At Connors State, where he recorded 195 wins, the Cowgirls won the 2009 Bi-State Conference and Region II championship to advance to the national tournament with a 30-5 record. He was recognized as the Bi-State Coach of the Year in 2009 and the NJCAA Region II Coach of Year in 2009. The Cowgirls also won the 2011 Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship and Kite was recognized as the OCAC Women’s Basketball Coach of the Year.

While at Panola College, Kite served as Region XIV Women’s Basketball Committee Chairman for two years. While at Connors State, Kite served as NJCAA Region II Division 1 Women’s Region Director for one year and Region II Women’s Assistant Director for one year while serving on the NJCAA Volleyball Committee. He also served as the Region II Women’s Basketball Committee Chairman from 2007-11.

He also has assistant coaching tenures at Central Florida State College, East Texas Baptist University, Oral Roberts University, University of Montevallo, University of Mobile and University of Houston.

Kite received a Bachelor of Arts degree from East Texas Baptist University in 1995 and a Master of Education degree from East Central University in 2011.

The Murchison native is a graduate of Brownsboro High School and attended TVCC.

He and wife Sarah have two daughters Aimee and Shelby and a son, Clinton.
