Region XIV Conference basketball coaches are high on the Lady Cards and Cardinals going into the season.
Both were picked to finish atop the standings this season at the 26th Region XIV Conference Media Tipoff at Wagstaff Gymnasium on the campus of Tyler Junior College Wednesday morning.
The Lady Cards, who have won/shared 31 of the last 33 conference championship. drew six of eight first-place votes.
The Cardinals, who have won the last two regional tournament titles, picked up 10 of 12 first-place votes.
The Lady Cardinals are scheduled to open the season Nov. 1 in Morristown, TN against Florida Southwestern.
The Cardinals are scheduled to open the season Nov. 1 at Weatherford.
