TWICE AS NICE: Cheer, Showgirls bring home titles

More national championship hardware has made its way back to campus.

Cardinal Cheer, competing in Daytona Beach, FL, restored order in the Advanced Large Coed Junior College Division. The Cardinals topped Navarro College and Iowa Central Community College to claim the college's 15th national championship in cheer. The Cardinals scored a 96.4167 for the top spot.

In the Advanced Small Coed Junior College Division, the Cardinal came up a tad shy, finishing second to Dodge City Community College – barely (93.3125 to 93.2042)

Cardinal Cheer has now won national titles in 1989, 1990, 1991, 1993, 1996, 2001, 2002, 2005, 2008, 2016, 2017, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024.

In Orlando, the two Cardette Showgirl teams also had shining moments.

The Open Pom Division squad captured national championship honors, scoring an 89.52. Iowa Central was second with an 88.84.

In the JUCO Jazz Division, the Showgirls were second. They scored an 85.84. Iowa Central was first with a 90.14.

The Cardette Showgirls now have six national titles (2017, 2019, 2021 (2), 2022 and 2024).

With the Cardette program now considered in the athletic program, the college has 31 national championships: cheer (15), women's basketball (8), Cardettes (6) and football (2).
