Campus is quieter with a little less dancing this week.
Cardinal Cheer and the Cardette Showgirls are on business trips to Florida, where they will compete in their respective national competitions. Cheer begins Thursday in Daytona Beach and dance Friday a little more than an hour down the road in Orlando.
In both competitions, the college will be represented by two squads. Cardinal Cheer will compete in Advanced Small Coed Junior College Division and Advanced Large Coed Junior College Division. The Showgirls will compete in Open Pom Division and JUCO Jazz Division.
Cardinal Cheer will be attempting to win a 15th, and possibly 16th, overall national title. The program has produced titles in each of the last three years, having won the small coed crown the last two years.
The Showgirls are also no stranger to the top spot, having claimed four national championships.

Advanced Small Coed Junior College Division – 8:16 a.m., Thursday
Advanced Large Coed Junior College Division – 3:34 p.m., Thursday
SHOWGIRLS
Open Pom Division – 9:30 a.m., Friday
JUCO Jazz Division – 4:09 p.m., Friday
The cheer finals are Friday and the dance finals are Saturday.
