Lauren Casey is in her first year as a coaching assistant on the TVCC volleyball staff.
She is hardly a stranger on campus, having played here for Coach Aleah Hayes in the 2020 season (played in the spring of 2021 due to COVID). In addition to earning being named first-team all-conference and all-region as a player, Casey received multiple academic awards and served as president of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
“I chose to return because I love the culture of the volleyball program, the competitive environment the TVCC athletic department promotes and the consistent community, which continually supports the college in countless of ways,” Casey said.
“I am excited to coach at a high level under the tutelage of Coach Hayes, as well as create connections with the team and the community.”
In 26 matches her one season at the college, she had 12 with double-digit kills, including 24 in her first game. Casey also posted double-digit digs in 20 matches, including 34 in one against Panola College.
The Jefferson City, Mo., native went on to play two seasons at Saint Anselm College, where she continued her on-court prowess. She was twice named all-conference and received more academic accolades.
“We are thrilled to have Lauren back at The Valley,” Hayes said. “She brings excitement, great skills on and off the court and a high volleyball IQ that will continue to help us achieve great things as a program.”
Casey received her bachelor's degree from Saint Anselm and completed her master’s at Northwest Missouri State.
