Jimmy Elder became the head women's soccer coach in January of 2024.

He joins the Cardinal family after a successful tenur at Dallas College Brookhaven, where his squads clamed five NJCAA D3 championships.

“We are absolutely excited to have been successful in getting someone of his caliber to lead our program,” said TVCC athletic director Eddie Kite in making the announcement. “His previous successes match the expectations we have for all our programs at Trinity Valley.

“This is a big development, not just for our women’s soccer program, but also for the college and the Cardinal community.”

Elder, who took over the Brookhaven women’s program in the fall of 2015, has won five NJCAA D3 national titles, taking the top spot in 2017, 2019, 2021, 2022 and 2023.

He also led Brookhaven to eight regular season Metro Athletic Conference championships and seven postseason South District crowns. Brookhaven is 121-24-9 during Elder’s tenure.

A former professional soccer player, Elder played for the Oklahoma City Slickers, the Dallas Americans and the Houston Dynamo of the American Professional Soccer League and the United Professional Soccer League.

His collegiate playing career was spent at Midwestern State University, where, as captain for three years, he led the Mustangs to multiple national rankings and a national championship tournament appearance, while being honored with the Mike Rodriguez Memorial Award. He was selected to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics All-Area Teams in 1979, 1980 and 1981.

A native Texan, Elder was a Texas youth all-star soccer player, and was selected and participated in the Olympic Development Regional Training Camp, while leading his youth U-19 soccer team to the South Texas State Championship. He has experienced coaching successfully at all levels, including youth, high school, collegiate and semi-professional soccer.
