Precious Ivy is in her fifth year at the college and fourth full as head coach, having assumed the title on an interim basis Jan. 9 in the 2020 season.

She guided the Lady Cardinals to a 17-0 finish that season, resulting in a Region XIV championship and No. 1 seed at the NJCAA tournament, which was canceled due to COVID. She was named head coach on March 26.

Ivy entered the 2023-24 season with a 100-13 record.

She joined the Lady Cardinal program as an assistant coach after a two-year stint as an assistant coach at Houston Baptist University.

At HBU, Ivy was the recruiting coordinator and assisted with player development and academics. She also focused on personnel on opposing teams and developed scouting reports.

“I am excited be on the JUCO level and at the premiere women’s program in the nation,” Ivy said.

“I enjoy working with the staff here and our student-athletes, as well as being a part of the Cardinal program. TVCC has a rich history and community that I am grateful to be associated.”

During the 2022-23 season the Lady Cardinals, won/shared their 30th conference championship in the last 32 years and captured their 24th Region XIV title.

They advanced to the NJCAA tournament for a 28th time, including each of the last 16 years. The  Lady Cardinals fell 66-63 in overtime to Northwest Florida State in the championship game.

In the 2021 season, Ivy and the Lady Cardinals went 22-3 and advanced to the NJCAA championship game. The following year they made it to the quarterfinals in a season.

She was no stranger to the Lady Cardinals and Region XIV Conference upon her arrival at the college.  Prior to her two years at HBU, Ivy spent five years as an assistant coach at Tyler Junior College.

At Tyler, she was in charge of recruiting, scouting, strength training, player skill development, academics and the redshirt program. She helped lead the Apaches to a 118-47 record, three national tournament appearances and a top-25 ranking for four-straight years. Ivy coached six all-conference honorees, including three NJCAA All-America selections.

The Cedar Hill native played two seasons at San Jacinto College, earning all-conference honorable mention in 2006-07 and 2007-08. Back injuries cut her career short and jumpstarted her foray into coaching. She served as a volunteer student assistant at San Jacinto.

She then spent one season at Wayland Baptist University as a graduate assistant, serving as the head coach of the junior varsity program, as well as overseeing player development and academics.

Ivy earned a Bachelor of Science degree in kinesiology fitness and sports from the University of Houston in 2008 and earned a Master of Arts degree in coaching and athletic administration from Concordia University-Irvine.
