INTO THE FINALS: Lady Cards return to regional title game
The Lady Cards (31-1) advanced to the championship game of the Region XIV Tournament Friday afternoon with an 86-63 win against Tyler at the Gold Dome on the campus of Centenary College in Shreveport, La.

The Lady Cards are set to face Angelina (19-12) in the 4 p.m. title bout. Angelina was a 71-60 winner against Blinn in Friday's other semifinal.

In their 17th straight win, the Lady Cards were led by Curtessia Dean. She fired in 31 points, including her 1,200th career  point with a free throw at the 7:29 mark of the third quarter. Dean had 22 in the first half as the Lady Cards built a 42-28 halftime lead.

The Lady Cards put the game away with a 28-18 scoring advantage in the third quarter.

Tiya Douglas pumped in 15 points for the Lady Cards, all on three-pointers. Asia Strong finished with 10

Taiyanna Jackson and Mekayla Furman just missed double digits with eight each. Jackson had a game-high 19 rebounds and blocked three shots.

In conference play, the Lady Cards defeated Angelina in both meetings, winning 81-59 at Cardinal Gym and 81-64 in Lufkin.

The Lady Cards are attempting to win ther 22nd regional championship and earn a 25th trip to the national tournament.
