PERFECT THROUGH 10: Lady Cards remain unbeaten

The third-ranked Lady Cards are 10-0 after going 2-0 in the annual Budke/Serna Thanksgiving Classic over the weekend at Cardinal Gym.

The Lady Cards opened the event Friday with a 58-48 win against No. 16 Odessa. Saturday, they came alive in the second half to score a 65-48 win against Hill.

Next up for the Lady Cards is their Region XIV Conference opener Tuesday on the road against Jacksonville. Jacksonville is 1-7 and coached by former Lady Card Savannah Carter. Game time is 5:30 p.m.

Against Odessa, the score was tied 26-26 at the half. The Lady Cards were up 41-40 going into the fourth quarter. They outscored Odessa 17-8 in the final 10 minutes to secure the win.

Taiyanna Jackson led the Lady Card scoring with 14 points. Asia Strong had 11 and Curtessia Dean and Ta'Niya Jackson 10 each. Strong also had a team-high 11 rebounds.

Dean had the hot hand in the win against Hill with 22. Taiyanna Jackson finished with 16 to go along with 12 rebounds and five blocked shots. Strong had 13.

The Lady Cards were up 28-26 at the half before turning the game in their direction with a 25-13 scoring advantage in the third quarter.

The Lady Cards' next home game is Saturday, Dec. 7, against Angelina. Game time is 2 p.m.
