ROAD WIN: Cardinals knock off Odessa, 9-7

The Cardinals are 3-2 on the season after going 1-2 in the winter weather-shortened Permian Basin Invitational in West Texas this past weekend.

The Cardinals dropped decisions to Snow, 10-1, and Coastal Bend, 5-0, before closing the event with a 9-7 win against host Odessa.

Mikayla De Los Santos, Kristina Sanchez, Liz Feld, Claudia Santana and Josey Sumpter led an 11-hit Cardinal attack with two hits each. De Los Santos and Sumpter each had two doubles and Sanchez slapped a home run.

Tyler Green also had a hit for the Cardinals.

De Los Santos, who drove in five runs, went four and-a-third innings in the circle. She was relieved by Annelise Corona, who struck out three and gave up just one hit.

The Cardinals are scheduled to be at home Wednesday against Hill. Doubleheader action begins at 1 p.m. The doubleheader was originally scheduled today, but moved due to wet field conditions.
