Matthew Scott is in his second year as a coaching assistant on the men’s basketball staff.

Scott cames to TVCC with a wealth of coaching experience, having previously served as assistant at Ranger College, helping the program to a 22-4 record and the NJCAA tournament semifinals in 2021 and winning the Region V championship. 

He made multiple stops before Ranger, including Player Development internship with the Dallas Mavericks, working directly under God Shammgod (head player development coach) and Mike Procopio. During his time, he worked with Andrew Bogut, Dwight Powell, Dorian Finney-Smith, and Jameel Warney just to name a few.

Scott, who graduated from Midwestern State University with a Master’s Degree in Sports Administration in 2016, played a key role in helping MSU to three Lone Star Conference championships and helping the team advance to the NCAA Division II postseason tournament in each of his seasons on campus.

As lead recruiter Scott signed all league player Jordan Stevens, he also led skill development and assisted with individual instruction of the MSU forwards, and game day operations.

Scott enjoyed a successful collegiate playing career at Central Methodist University and helped the Eagles achieve their first 13-0 start in school history, a Heart of America Conference cTampionship and an NAIA Sweet 16 appearance in 2009. A member of two NAIA national tournament squads, he was named the team's most improved player in 2009 for Missouri Sports Hall of Fame coach Jeff Sherman.

Scott graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies with a minor in Physical Education from Central Methodist in 2010. 

He is no stranger to the TVCC program, having attended the college in 2005-06 as a walk on basketball player. 

Scott currently resides in Dallas, with his wife, Janaela, and daughter, Mattea.
