Tyson Jolly earns First Team All American

ATHENS, Texas. -- TVCC wing Tyson Jolly is The Region XIV Conference men's basketball player of the year.  This award assures that Jolly will be selected as an All American following the National Tournament in Hutchison, Kansas.   In addition to Player of the Year, he was voted MVP of the Regional Tournament in Shreveport this past weekend.

Jolly secured a place in the hearts of Cardinal fans forever this year as he led the league in both scoring and rebounding.  Jolly averaged 22.5 points and led the nation in rebounding grabbing 12.6 per game.  The Baylor transfer, guided the Cardinals to a 27-7 regular season record and helped the team back to the National Tournament for the fifth time in six years.

David Nickelberry was named 2nd team All Conference averaging 15 ppg along with 7 rebounds.  The slick passing Nickelberry  transferred to TVCC after spending his freshman year at Memphis University.  Despite injuries early in the season he recovered to be one of the leagues most exciting players.

In addition to the two all conference selections, Jairus "Slim" Roberson was listed as Honorable Mention All Conference.  Roberson earned a spot in the Trinity Valley record books earlier this season when he made 13 threes in one game. Roberson was selected for the All Tournament team.

Gary Lyons, freshman from Athens, was also voted to the All Tournament team.
