SIZZLING START: No. 15 Cardinals roll in opener

The 15th-ranked Cardinals led from start to finish Thursday night in a 100-54 season-opening win against Strength 'N Motion at Cardinal Gym.

Racing out to a 9-0 lead, fueled by Baylor transfer Tyson Jolly, third-year head coach Guy Furr's Cardinals were on their way to a rout. Jolly scored the Cardinals first eight points. The Cardinals built a 46-24 halftime lead and never looked back.

Jolly led the Cardinals in his Cardinal debut, scoring 17 points – all in the first half. He had two of the Cardinals'  12 three-pointers.

Also scoring in double figures were David Nickelberry with 16, Terry "TJ" Collins 15, Jairus Robinson 14 and Marquan Williams and Vladmir Purtskhvanidze 10 each. Bruce "BJ" Simmons had nine and T.J. Boyd seven.

Robinson led the Cardinals with four three-pointers.

The Cardinals are scheduled to participate in the East/West Challenge in Lewisville this weekend. They play No. 7 Odessa, coached by former Cardinal head coach Kris Baumann, at 4 p.m. Saturday and No. 16 Missouri State-West Plains at 2 p.m. Sunday.

The Cardinals' next home game is scheduled Wednesday, Nov. 14, against Lone Star-Tomball. Game time is 7 p.m.
