The 11th-ranked Cardinals used a 24-point third quarter to blow open the Battle In The Valley to score a 52-24 non-conference win against Air Force Prep Academy in action Saturday afternoon at Bruce Field.
The win boosted second-year head coach Sherard Poteete's squad to 6-2 on the season. They return to action Saturday on the road against Navarro in a 3 p.m. kickoff at Tiger Field in Corsicana. Navarro is 4-4 on the year and 3-3 in league play.
The Cardinals are 4-2 in conference. A win against Navarro would secure the No. 2 playoff seed and assure a home game in the semifinals on Saturday, Nov. 2. A loss would likely result in a No. 3 seed and a possible rematch with Navarro in the opening round, again in Corsicana.
