The 16th-ranked Cardinals stayed unbeaten Saturday night with an 18-14 win against Tyler Junior College in front of a large crowd at Bruce Field.
Next up for the 2-0 Cardinals, now ranked 13th, is Northeastern Oklahoma A&M (1-1) in a 7 p.m. kickoff at Bruce Field. NEO suffered a 26-0 loss to Georgia Military in non-conference action Saturday.
The Cardinals built a 12-lead before Tyler fought back to move into a 14-12 lead going into the fourth quarter.
The Cardinals recovered a muffed punt midway through the final period, setting up a 27-yard scoring strike from Jeremy Hunt to Keonta Fiakpui at the 8:02 mark.
Joren Dickey intercepted a deflected Tyler pass with 2:00 left to secure the win.
